Taiwan-Indulged

Yeap!!
I'm back with another delicious restaurant to review..!

So this place i'm about to show you is definitely somewhere in my fav-restaurant-list. Located in Pantai Indah Kapuk - a kinda new [around 2 years now? i think] place where a lot [yeah! A-VERY-CRAZY-LOTS] of youngsters hanging out. A part of Jakarta where you'll find it hard to drive around weekend. [you'll literally see a 4 rows road became a tiny little 1 row. yeap, they're that packed.]
from Cafè(s), Bars, Dessert Restaurants, Milk Tea(s), Chinese fine dinning, Family Restaurants (Indonesian - thai - taiwanese - western - japanese - korean  -you name it. they have it all. And they have LOTS of them.), food court, to Supermarket. You can even find a traditional market there. Just bear with the traffic, and the crazy-hard-parking part. :'D.

Aaaa! did i mention that the majority of people here is chinese [not to be racist, but this is what my friends told me : "PIK is somehow like the chinese version of Kemang (a famous youngsters hangout district in South Jakarta).]

anyway,
in the midst of all these hangout place packed with youngsters. There's this place where our seniors would LOVE to be.

T2 Taiwanese Tea & Coffee
Why seniors? is it that old that no youngsters are meant to be? the food? the atmosphere? hmm...
honestly? i have no idea. it's just i rarely see youngsters hanging out here.
call me oldies, but i love it here. the foods are such a darling to my tastebuds.
[My mom LOVE it here as well]

the semi-outdoor

indoors. See? told ya! Seniors. ;D

Turquoise Tea. not really an everyday tea, right?

So i came here with my mom and my sista!
Here are some menus we ordered :

Menu No. 801 Taiwanese Mee Sua.
idr. 35K
look at that! Mee Sua topped with minced pork, fried anchovies, and soft-poached egg (it usually visible, but...)
No. 859 Taiwanese Go Hiong
idr. 30K

No. 863 Fried Enoki
idr. 21K

No. 868 Taiwanese Seaweed Popiah
idr. 40K

This one is a new-comer to the menu and guess what??? THIS IS GOOD!
RAW Jicama + Carrot + Cucumber + delicious crunchies rolled with lumpia skin (chinese spring roll) and seaweed.
lookin' at the ingredients, i suppose it's kinda low-calorie..so, make sure you try this on your visit.
For you who have this chinese-porky-taste-bud. I would really recommend to visit. they have BUNCH of pork in their menu. From side dish to main course.

And of course when you hear "Taiwan", it's the desserts and milk tea! :9
in the menu, T2 offers various kinds of drinks [by various i mean around 92].
Classify them into 7 groups :
1. Special Tea Series
2. Fresh Tea Series
3. Milk Tea Series
4. Smoothie Series
5. Cocoa or Coffee
6. Fresh Milk Series
just like other tea / milk tea place, you can also request your preference of sugar and ice levels and add your favorite toppings. They're offering Bubble, Aloe vera, Jelly, Grass jelly, Glassy Jelly, Pudding, Coconut Jelly, Rainbow Jelly, Coffee Jelly, Adzuki Beans, and Popping Ball.

sounds ordinary ?
we ordered Signature Milk Tea (Less Sugar, Less Ice) with Grass Jelly + Coconut Jelly
COUPLE SIZE (look how big it was compared to my hand)
idr. 41K
Here's the couldn't-found-in-other-place part : by adding idr 8K to your drink, you can upsize it to the couple size. which i find crazy big, three of us - we can barely finish it.

Estimation : idr. 50 - 70K / Person.
[it was idr. 222K for the 3 of us.]

SWAGYU

SWAGYU

TADAAA...!! Do yo see what i see???
Yeap! I finally got the chance to visit Holycow!

Though i'm not that steak-person [i mean, i do eat steak, it's just you won't hear me scream (or say, or nag) "i want some steaaakkk!!!" XD], but since my dear-lovely-big-sister came to Jakarta [she definitely enjoy steaks] and heard something about this restaurant, so when asked about what should we eat, she said "let's go to Holycow. let's try." and i'm like... OKAY! you're the boss. Let's go..! :D
[she couldn't be hearing the sizzling sound of those meat, could she? LOL]

So let's see what do we got here. :)

Holycow! CAMP Gading (it was so packed, we're put on the waiting list).

see? Told ya' it was packed.
After a little while, we're told that they've got free seats for us to take. and it was in their 2nd floor.
hmm...YAY! we're having our dinner...!
as soon as you got upstairs, you'll be somehow welcomed by these frames-hanging-on-the-wall. :D
and a very welcome greetings on the table. :))
Not long after we're seated. a waiter came, and gave out the menus. So mainly the meats are classified into 6 different groups :
1. Authentic Japanese Beef | stated as "World's Best Quality Beef" KOBE BEEF (200g) idr. 550K
2. U.S Certified Angus Beef | idr. 99K - 131K
3. Wagyu Beef | idr. 45K - 285K
4. Australian Prime Beef | idr. 84K - 128K
5. Hakubee Beef | idr. 115 - 140K
6. Nolan Selection | idr. 120K - 140K

Each steaks comes with 3 side dishes :
French Fries / Mashed Potato + Green Bean / Sauted Spinach + Sauted Corn.

skim a while, hesitate a while, a bit of asking-answering, and we're set.
[more visuals are coming up, are you ready to drool? :))]

And these was our dinner :

Wagyu Sirloin Mb 9+ (idr. 260K)
Wagyu Tenderloin Mb9+ (idr. 285K)
what's the difference between the Mb9+ and the ordinary ones? According to the waiter, the Mb9+ ones are in higher ranks, and more tender [you can either google it or just believe what he said, right?]. As for me, at least there was 2 things that differs them :
1. They had this "LIMITED!" word at the end of the menu, and
2. Definitely pricier. [ehm]

YUM!
now look at that!
so we ordered well done for both menus since my sister don't eat raw's (except for eggs, i guess),
and i'm not a steak person, remember? XD
They say you should order your steak in medium or medium - well to enjoy the most of it [at least that's some of my friends are saying], but that was SWAG! Well-Done, Chef!
Despite being fully cooked, you can still taste the juicy part of the meat. It wasn't tough AT ALL. My sister repeatedly said "these are good", "they are soo good, aren't they?", "I like the sirloin better".

aaa! did i mention that you got to choose between 5 choices of sauce ?
Home-made Mushroom Sauce, W Sauce, Buddy's Special Sauce, Blackpepper Sauce, and Barbeque Sauce.

it's how the first floor looks. that was around 9.30 and yet they're still crowds here.
if you're wondering, that's the part you're eating. :D
Now, it's your turn.

Sunset in a bowl

This dish is a real eye-candy, don't you think so?
look at that bright-yellow-watery-fresh-lookin' yolk surrounded by those sexy-red-ish toppings.

Are you a healthy-freak-boiling-eater? a spicy-junkie? If you are, you might wanna read this.

So there is this restaurant [kinda new, though. Been 'boiling' since April 2014] called Boiling Pot. Stated itself as a Hotsoup Speciality. They're so chinese that they use the red, bamboo visuals, and even chinese characters in their logo. the employee said the thing that differs them with another 'suki' place is that they serve theirs in a one-for-one size.

Curious? I ran over the menu and after lots of flipping pages, asking, and flipping pages, i was hesitated to choose between 7 different soup base they're offering :
1. The most healthy one [according to the waiter], with chinese herbal ingredients -> Herbal Beef Hotsoup.
2. The one that's made for a veggie-junkie -> Herbal Veggie Hotsoup.
3. The Indonesian Curry Hotsoup
4. The one that's famous for the spiciness -> Spicy Mala Hotsoup,
5. The so-korean -> Korean Kimchi Hotsoup.
6. The red dot -> Japanese Miso Hotsoup
7. The taste of Thailand -> Seafood Tomyum Hotsoup.

They also have other chinese foods on the menu. Something like stir-fried-veggies, fried 'enoki'-, Taiwanese crispy chicken, cereap prawns, Kungpao chicken, and desserts like milk tea, etc. on the menu.

After a couple extra minutes of thinking and hesitating, I finally decided to go with the spicy one, and my friend ordered fried 'enoki'.

and here comes the waiting part.

[it's time to take some pictures of the ambience, right? XD]

still waiting. . . . . .

TADAAA...!! here comes the long-waited hottie. [it wasn't that long though] :D

The 1-serving was big enough to fill my tummy without any need of rice. It contains slices of beef, napa cabbage [sawi putih], 'shimeji' and 'enoki' mushrooms, tofu skin, white tofu, tomatoes, 'swikiaw' (shrimp-dumpling), crab-sticks, fishballs, glass noodle, and slices of scalion [daun bawang].

and that fied-enoki at the back, it was... hmm... fine. you know that seasoning powder they use on taiwanese street-food? i think they use that.

Spicy Mala Hotsoup.

For something worth idr. 52K (tax excluded) it was okay.
NO, it was actually a bit disappointing. In contrary, one of my friend said it was good. So good that he'll definitely come back. [hmm.. maybe you should try it yourself, and tell me what you think. :D].
just got the info, the Korean Kimchi one's a bit pricier, at idr. 57K.

You know the feeling when something don't live up your expectation? the waiter told me it was famous for being spicy, so i can't help but expecting a HOT hot. But that was an OK hot. but taste-wise, it wasn't bad. As for me, if i am to come here for the second time, i'll definitely want to try the Herbal Beef Hotsoup.

Do you see that?? that is a precious yolk! it's bottom part was completely cooked, and not that thin-raw on the top.
But you can still "slurp" that middle part. :9 YUM!

Aah.... Finished it all

Porky Brunch

Hi-Hellow, Dear Readers.
How's your sunday going? mine? it was great.

Here's s short recap of mine :
- I got up earlier than my alarm[Great!!],
- Went to the Church and guess what? yesterday's service was sooo special it was Sunday-School Sunday. So the entire service was done by the sunday school students and teachers.
- Had a great lunch with my fellas [this is what we're going to talk about in a moment XD]
- Went to Baywalk Mall
- Got to do some sports and went to dinner with my youth-community fellows.

SO, today i'll try reviewing one of our favorite 'Nasi-Campur' [mixed (pork) rice] restaurant : ATEK.
what's so great about it? What's the recommended menu? we'll get into it real soon. :D
i went to their center branch which was located in Komp. Taman Duta Mas Blok C 1b No. 6 West-Jakarta, this restaurant provides one of the best Hongkong Style Grilled Pork in town.

They offer 2 different choices of rice here, the Plain White Rice, and the Hainanese Chicken-Rice.
for the meat, ATEK gives you 3 choices of meats : Pork, Chicken, and Duck.
if you choose chicken and/or duck, they're offering a HK Style roasted chicken and duck. they're good.
But if you decide to go with the pork, you've made a brilliant choice, they have this Crispy-yet-tender 'Siobak', the original 'chasio', and the best [my most recommended menu] is their Sweet-Crispy-Yummy Honey-Glazed-'Chasio' [chasio madu] this was sooo good you have to try 'em yourself.
[*ps : they do offers many kinds of chinese foods as well, but this HK Style Roasted Meats are their specialities]

As for me, i ordered Hainanese Chiken-Rice [pork], it comes as a set with one bowl of Chiken Rice, Slices of 'siobak', 'chasio', 'chasio madu', a couple slice of roasted chicken, and half-an-boiled-egg. :D
Price : idr. 37K

if you prefer the White-Rice one, it's a good thing on it's own. xD it comes with a little [just a little bit] cheaper.
Price : idr. 35K

Once you're done with your meal, just RIGHT IN FRONT of this restaurant, you can find this street vendor selling 'es potong'. i tried the durian flavored one, and it was such a nice treat to help you bear with Jakarta's super-timid-weather. for you who's happen to be a non-durian-eater, my friends did try the avocado flavored, and guess what? they're as satisfied as i am.

this chilly-treat are just too expense-friendly,
they're at idr. 5K Each.

WHAT A TREAT, isn't it?

How the restaurant look [front]

The Duck [upper] and Chicken [lower] HK Style BBQ

what i called Crispy-yet-Tender 'siobak' earlier

the precious Sweet-Crispy-Yummy Honey-Glazed-'Chasio' [chasio madu]

Here's what i ordered the set i was talking about.

Tadaa...! just right in front!

Sweet..sweet...treat.
